Flat map — the story graph: officials, companies, parcels and the records that link them, pre-laid-out in six layouts (Worlds, Communities, Townships, Timeline, Power space, Money flow).
3D — the same graph with depth, cone arrows and money particles along directed lines.
Record plane — every name on a recorded instrument (421,050 of them, 1983–2026) in power space. Click any name for its record, its connections and its direction-settled money; Connect A → B finds the shortest chain of shared instruments between any two names.
Colour is the relationship family; dash is what the line asserts (solid: record; double: accepted with a qualification; dashed: lead; dotted: blocked); width is volume; arrows show direction where the index settles it.
Money in ↑ / Money out ↓ in a drawer follows the directed money: lender → borrower, buyer → seller, donor → committee. In the record plane the same idea covers every name, with teal arrows in and orange arrows out.
Person ● · company ■ · bank ▢ · public body ⬡ · agency ⬟ · office ★ · committee ◆ · informant ◎ · parcel ▲ · resolution ▤.
Size is whichever quantity you choose: connections, instruments, dollars, court cases, bridging, years on record, private parties touched, voters with the name.
Scan for leads runs ten pattern detectors over the whole graph (a seller who is also the bank, an official's company dealing with a public body, a donor's business with the donee's board, a quick flip after a sheriff's sale…) and lights each hit with its instruments. Case file keeps your pins, notes and hypotheses (gold rings and dashed gold lines; saved in this browser, exportable). Screen a list checks a pasted list of names against the map and the record plane. Common ground lists who is linked to both of two names. Search accepts an instrument number.
Every line carries its source in the drawer, and the deep plane carries its source line in the dossier. A shared instrument or a same-name link is a lead, not a finding. Direction is read from the index and checked against the documents where they are held. Retracted claims stay out; the corrections ledger is the record.
